Boot Camp Assistant guides you through installing Windows on your Mac. Open this app from the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder. Then follow the onscreen instructions to repartition your startup disk and download related software drivers for Windows. OS X has many great design wins, but the mouse acceleration curve is not one of them. Using a mouse under OS X feels very unnatural if you’ve ever used another operating system. The pointer moves too slowly when you move the mouse a little and too quickly when you try to speed it up.
Hey guys, I mainly use Windows with Bootcamp on my macbook pro. I am looking to buy the Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse to use with Windows 7 but since I sometimes use Mac OS too, it is crucial that this mouse works with Lion too. Arc Touch Mouse page does not show compatibility with Mac but the mouse should work with Lion as a normal pointing device, right?

Actually I have seen someone using it with Snow Leopard but I want to be absolutely sure about its compatibility with Lion prior to buying this device. Only the basic functions, right left click and touch scrolling would suffice. Any suggestions?
About the App. App name: Microsoft IntelliPoint. App description: microsoft-intellipoint (App: Microsoft Mouse Installer.app/Contents/Resources/Microsoft Mouse.pkg). App website: Install the App. Press Command+Space and type Terminal and press enter/return key.
Run in Terminal app: ruby -e '$(curl -fsSL /dev/null; brew install caskroom/cask/brew-cask 2 /dev/null and press enter/return key. If the screen prompts you to enter a password, please enter your Mac's user password to continue.
When you type the password, it won't be displayed on screen, but the system would accept it. So just type your password and press ENTER/RETURN key. Then wait for the command to finish. Run: brew cask install microsoft-intellipoint Done!
You can now use Microsoft IntelliPoint. It looks like step 3 should now be: brew cask install caskroom/drivers/microsoft-intellipoint However, on Sierra before it would work for me to set for the forward and back buttons on app-specific basis, I had to reboot holding down command-r until the Apple logo appeared, open Terminal and enter: csrutil disable then: reboot Installing the cask after that works (and then you can repeat the previous step with “csrutil enable” to turn System Integrity Protection back on). Unfortunately, I found I had to launch the “Microsoft Mouse” preference pane after every reboot to get the extra buttons to work correctly. You can add it to Users & Groups Login Items, but will still have to close the System Preferences window after rebooting. Someone mentioned you can navigate to /Library/PreferencePanes in Finder, Show Package Contents on “Microsoft Mouse.prefPane”, drill into Contents Resources, and then drag MicrosoftMouseHelper.app into your Users & Groups Login Items (instead of the PrefPane itself). Then you do not have to manually launch or close System Preferences every reboot.
Incidentally, all of this also worked comparably for my Microsoft Keyboard. I did not come up with any of these steps, but the info is scattered on various websites. I thought someone might appreciate a consolidated list of what worked for me. It definitely should be easier, but I am just glad to have these beloved pieces of Microsoft hardware working again on current MacOS.
